My Friend Ruth - Part 2

I’ve already told you a little bit about my friend Ruth and her amazing purses, shoes, jewelry and wedding gown (which is currently being repaired).

In 1954 she decided to take a jewelry making class. She created some seriously amazing pieces. That’s right - 1954.

My Friend Ruth - Part 1

A couple of months ago I got an email from a woman named Ruth. She’d gotten my name from my mother-in-law. She wanted to know if I’d be interested in buying her wedding dress that she bought in 1957. There will be more on that amazing wedding gown later.

A few weeks later, I heard from Ruth again. She said she had more things I might be interested in like some 1940s alligator pumps and a matching bag. Based on her wedding gown (it’s FANCY) I assumed that whatever else she had was fancy too.

I was right.

The alligator pumps and the matching handbag were purchased in 1947 swanky L.L. Berger’s department store in Buffalo, NY.

This basket purse is incredible. I don’t know the name of the store, but it was purchased in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida.

This little purse has a matching scarf. Did I mention Ruth is fancy?

Her jewelry is gorgeous!

This set belonged to Ruth’s mother-in-law and was made in Western Germany.

This might be my favorite. It looks so modern - hard to believe it’s from the 1960s!
